Summer Camp Counselor

Locations: Belmont & Los Altos (with flexibility to travel to Campbell, Los Gatos, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, San Carlos, San Jose)

If you are looking for a fun, exciting and rewarding way to spend your summer working with children AND if you are a creative, high energy LEGO-lover, then Kidizens is the place for you! Kidizens is a unique, innovative enrichment program for 1st through 6th graders (ages 6-12) where “kid citizens” create an entire LEGO city over the course of the week while learning about civics and city planning, government, economics, the environment, and much more.

Working collaboratively with a group of interns and volunteers, you will teach daily lessons on aspects of building a city, aid and oversee pairs of children working as Co-Mayors for their daily projects, and engage children in problem-solving and critical thinking when their city faces a challenge.

As a counselor, you will be inspiring students to become good citizens and future leaders, one LEGO brick at a time. Ideal candidates are thought/policy leaders, educators, professionals, college students, and ambitious high school graduates.

Requirements and Preferred Experience:

Experience working with children in a classroom or camp setting.
Possess strong classroom and behavioral management skills.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
Be a self-starter as well as an innovative and creative LEGO builder!
A flexible, energetic, social, enthusiastic and engaging demeanor.
A strong desire to help shape, influence and nurture the minds of children.
Ability to create a fun and positive energy classroom environment

Our summer session begins June 7th and ends August 27th and employment will begin May 31st with work hours from 8:30am – 3pm (up to 10 additional hours available if interested).

Job Type: Full-time (June to August, can work select weeks)

Compensation: $15.00 to $20.00 / hour (based on experience)

Assistant Summer Camp Counselor

Locations: Belmont & Los Altos (with flexibility to travel to Campbell, Los Gatos, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, San Carlos, San Jose)

For those that want to gain a bit more experience, consider joining our team as an Assistant Camp Counselor for the summer!

Work collaboratively with the Lead Camp Counselor to deliver daily lessons on aspects of building a city, aid and oversee pairs of children working as Co-Mayors for their daily projects, and engage children in problem-solving and critical thinking when their city faces a challenge.

As an assistant counselor, you will helping the camp run smoothly by helping manage city budgets, facilitating restroom breaks, and coming up with unique civic scenarios for the Mayors!

Ideal candidates are thought/policy leaders, educators, professionals, college students and ambitious high school graduates. Join our regular Camp Staff after 1-2 summers volunteering!

Full-Time / Part-Time Teacher

At Kidizens, we are building responsible, future leaders, one brick, one project, one city at a time. Kidizens Teachers help facilitate this collaborative building process by acting as a moderator, staging city events, guiding them through fun lessons, and challenging them to think critically about socially responsible solutions!

This position is multi-faceted. Candidates must have a B.A. degree in a related field, experience with children, related subject expertise or passion, technology experience, and will possess strong classroom and behavioral management skills. Exceptional candidates with an A.A. degree will also be considered. The ideal candidate is someone who is creative, flexible, enthusiastic, committed, positive, capable, and has a pleasant demeanor.

This person will be primarily responsible for working with students aged 6-12. In addition to the teaching responsibilities, this position will include additional duties such as marketing, spreading the awareness of the program with local school districts, curriculum development, and maintaining parent relations. The candidate should be able to work independently or as a member of a team and must be able to communicate openly in a professional manner with everyone. They must demonstrate a high degree of integrity and an ability to handle multiple priorities and strict deadlines.

Compensation will be based on experience. We offer benefits including paid medical, vacation, holidays and sick-days for full-time employees. We are looking for teachers who can bring their experience, civic awareness, and creativity to add high impact to our program, deliver our classes in an engaging manner, and enhance our students’ overall experience.
