Young kidizens fall

Learn to play. Play to learn. Learn to Lead.

LEGO-Based Civic and Economic Enrichment Fall Classes

We continue to be excited about our Young Kidizens program as a perfect beginning to the Kidizens program. Our unique constructivist framework of city-building, role-playing and social learning enables groups of younger students to take on a guided discovery of real-life concepts. While the overall concept and experiential learning philosophy of Kidizens runs through all problems, our curriculum for the “Young Kidizens,” is designed specifically for the target age group of 6-7 (and young 8’s), with the goal of simplifying many civic and economic concepts and bringing them to life with many play-based elements.

Exciting Field Trips to the local City Hall, Stanford Design School or History Museum, Recology center, scheduled throughout the semester as per availability and convenience.

  • 14-week highly interactive and fun session; Targeted at Ages 6 – Young 8-yr olds
  • Students build their own entire LEGO city and interact with each other while learning simple real-world civics concepts, lessons and social skills.
  • Teachers guide young kids in a primarily play-based learning environment.
  • Kids build various infrastructure projects – police station, fire station, hospitals, schools, airport, explore transportation options and much more.
  • Kids study “real-life” versions of each building before beginning their own LEGO versions. They will find out just what a “day in the life” of a fire fighter, police officer or doctor entails through various events and interactions with their city.
  • Kids meet and role play as a City Council to discuss issues and run for elections for various jobs. It’s going to be a big responsibility on the little shoulders!

In all, the kids will explore, build, have fun, and interact in a socially rich environment, without even realizing that they are continually learning the everyday important lessons of life.
